Inspired by this Plural Etiquette Questionnaire
What do you go by collectively?
Formally, we are the Constellation of Dreams. We are trying out being referred to as "The Dreamers" as a sort of group nickname.
You can do "y'all", "yous", "you&", or even "you". Don't really mind either way.
We don't really have a collective pronoun, though many of us are fine with they/them in a pinch.
How should I refer to you?
As individuals.
If you need to refer to the whole constellation, you can do that too.
What terms do you use for yourselves as individuals, or as a group?
We say we are the members of this constellation. We generally avoid most communal terms. So anything like alter, tulpa, facet, personality, parts, -tive, or introject is a big nope from us; even headmate is iffy. Sometimes we do utilize sysmember or headmates in unfamiliar spaces, for communication purposes.
We do not do community-termed roles. Whatever roles you see we put on our bios are just that: occasional responsibilities we took up when the situation calls for it.
We do not use system, and between the two common terms, we would work more with collective. Generally, we are a constellation. Again, we do utilize and work with the other common terms when communicating within a community setting. We do like to call ourselves a group of us.
Most of us are nonhuman, and you can use folks, people, entities, beings for most of us, and creature for some of us. Just listen to each individual's preferences.
Whom am I speaking with? Can I talk to this other member?
Usually, Ryuu (they/them) and Crowley (any/all) are the main points of contact. Yajuu (it/its) sometimes pays attention if notified by Ryuu (and a reminder that Yajuu is a nonverbal beast). You can get Aziraphale's (he/they) attention through either of us.
We make a clear indicator of who is speaking, but you can always double-check in case we used an "All" proxy. That usually is due to multiple speakers or confusion about who is present.
If you want to find Lady (she/her), I'm sorry you are out of luck. Even we can barely get into contact with her on most days.
Guests and visitors who came to our constellation temporarily are usually unreachable. Though some might poke their head to this side of things, and you can catch a glimpse of them to have a quick chat. While Daisuki is our permanent guest, they largely speak in Japanese that is not always parsable from this end.
Will other members overhear the conversation? Should I include them? What if I want to have a one-on-one?
It kind of depends. Most of the time, the usual suspects will be within hearing range; if they pay attention, or remember the conversation later, that is another matter.
We operate by a (meta)physical rule. That means the further away physically folks are from the Den, the harder it is to hear things on this end. It also depends if the individuals are telepathically linked.
Which also means for those that are within hearing range, unless we actively put up walls of some sort, they will likely hear the conversation regardless. Ryuu generally dislikes putting up a privacy wall for fear of cutting off any connections with others. Others don't really bother.
Most of the time in a private setting, those who are already talking will be the sole person responding, unless requested or circumstance requires another's presence.
How out are you?
We are out amongst plural-accepting spaces and selective social media sites. Ryuu is generally the person who deals with unsafe or unfamiliar spaces.
We are also out to Ryuu's physical world partner.
If you want to be an ally and find someone that you think can be trustworthy, you can direct them to this site or explain plurality to them!
Do you have any internal communication difficulties, memory issues, switch triggers, etc that others should be mindful of?
These are largely still being explored by us. The communication difficulties are largely language-based. Even if you have something of interest to a particular member, if they aren't physically close or aware, they just won't be here.
Can I ask...?
We welcome questions! Love questions, us. Though depending on the sort of question, you may or may not get an answer. Like if something is personal, we will let you know if we are uncomfortable or unable to answer.
